Wildlife Viewing

The Babine Lake area is the ideal location for wildlife viewing. Because of the large number of salmon, the estimated population of Grizzly Bears in the Babine corridor is 100. Black bears are also residents of the Babine Lake area and come in cinnamon and brown colors, but most of them are black.

There are many bald and golden eagles that migrate to Babine Lake along with the salmon from the ocean. The best time to view them is in October and November when the Babine River flows into Nikitwa Lake.

A great competitor for the eagles, the osprey can also be seen in the area when the salmon is spawning. One never gets tired of watching ospreys dive bombing in the water!
